The Story of Seam Splitter
The best things in life are shared. When I started Seam Splitter, I wanted to create more than just upcycled clothing—I wanted to create a connection. Think of our pieces like a friendship bracelet in shirt form. Wearable Art. Reimagined Fashion.
Everything we do starts with the hunt. I spend my time hand-picking vintage and thrifted gear that has character, history, and a bit of soul, funk, rock or some hip hop in it. I don’t see these clothes as "used"—I see them as raw material for art.
By splitting the seams and mashing styles together, I’m able to create funky, one-of-a-kind wearable art. Every "Campfire Flannel" and "Split Tee" is a puzzle I’ve put back together by hand. It’s about taking the best of the past and stitching it into something completely new and unapologetically weird

The technical side of this is in my blood. My grandmother, a Holocaust survivor, was the neighborhood seamstress for her entire apartment building. Her door was always open, and her sewing machine was always running. I’ll be the first to admit that I didn’t show nearly enough interest in the craft when she was willing and able to teach me. Luckily, she is still with us at 100 years of age.
It took years for the flame in me to get sparked. While I was working as a sound mixer on the set of Project Runway, being surrounded by the constant hum of construction for months reminded me of what I had been missing. Now that she’s retired and passing the time, I’ve picked up the shears myself. Seam Splitter is my way of keeping that skill alive, even if my "reworks" are a little more chaotic than the hems she used to sew.
